BEGINNING WITH his great-great-grandfather, who was a village butcher in Germany and continuing with his immigrant great-grandfather, who established a successful meat packing company on Chicago's South Side (the original Hofherr Meat Company), Sean Hofherr comes from a long line of butchers.
With a reverence for his family's butchering heritage, Sean is driven by a single-minded purpose: to re-establish the Hofherr name in Chicago's rich culinary history. Sean honed his skills in numerous restaurant kitchens and cooking competitions over the years, winning accolades for his many signature dishes. He began his career in the food industry at Keefer's, the memorable steakhouse in Chicago's River North.
His passion then took him to the cutting board with an apprenticeship at Zier's Prime Meats in Wilmette. Most recently, Sean served as kitchen director at Stormy's Tavern in Northfield, where his culinary creations gained widespread acclaim from locals and press alike. Sean is an active member of the Butcher's Guild and the Illinois Barbecue Society.

SEAN is the owner. Before starting his own business, he worked for Keefer’s Restaurant in Chicago for five years, and then completed a four-year apprenticeship at Zier’s Prime Meats in Wilmette. Sean enjoys music, sports, bourbon and pickup trucks.
VINCENT is the manager at Hofherr Meat Company. Vince and Sean met over cocktails one night and it was love at first sight. You know that guy who's behind the scenes making sure we function? That's Vinny.
EMILY has been with us since the beginning. Mutual friend and Northfielder Henry Seul sent her over to talk to us when she graduated from U of Wisconsin-Plattville with a degree in Meat Processing. Emily can usually be found eagerly helping customers and brings a much-needed female presence behind the counter.
DAN is a native Northfielder who came to us from the meat counter at Mariano's. (Fun fact: Dan's mother-in-law lives next to Sean's parents in Northfield; been that way for the past thirty-five years.)
JAMIE has worked as a corporate executive chef for nearly ten years. Jamie and Sean have known each other since pre-school. (Fun fact: Jamie competed on Season 7 of TV's "Hell’s Kitchen", which is hosted by world-famous ass, Gordon Ramsay.) She also does consulting for various North Shore restaurants.
STEVE is our Chef. Steve met Sean while working the grills one night at a charity event. Steve offered Sean some pork belly and sauerkraut that he'd made... That's the foundation of any lasting friendship.
