So it's hard to get a straight answer whether or not their suppliers used hormones, steroids, antibiotics or other expedient methods in the course of raising the animals. Frankly, it's hard to know exactly what’s in the meat you buy from most outlets.
Before opening the doors to Hofherr Meat Co., we went to great lengths to seek out and visit family-run farms throughout the Midwest in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana and Michigan.
After years of research, we've devised a carefully-orchestrated supply of humanely-raised animals. The result? Hofherr Meat Co. carries the very finest meats possible, without compromise or exception.
Because Sean began his career as a chef, his vision for Hofherr Meat Co. focuses on helping customers create restaurant-quality meals in their own homes.
So not only do we stock a standard selection of raw steaks, chops and poultry, we also offer a variety of specialty game including venison, buffalo and rabbit, depending on season and availability. We also carry miscellaneous items like beef knuckles, chicken feet, duck fat, pure lard, marrow bones, pork neck bones and smoked salmon, as well as offering custom processing for hunters, provided the animal is field-dressed (gutted and without the hide, head and hoofs).
We take immense pride in our hand-crafted, mouthwatering charcuterie. At any give time, one of our team is carefully preparing sausage, ham, pate and other cured offerings.
Our shop has a traditional deli counter with meats and cheese ready for slicing, as well as a floor-to-ceiling rotisserie oven for chicken, ribs and other delicious items as they're available.
We also carry a variety of dry goods, dairy items, produce and beverages. Every product in our store was ordered with a special purpose in mind. It would make our day if you ask us to explain a particular item to you.
All of our soups are made fresh daily to carry out; we also offer special recipes every week. All of our deli meats are cured, smoked and made daily in-house, accompanied by your choice of chips and a pickle wedge. Choose from our menu of chef-crafted sandwiches or create your own combination!
All of our prepared meals are made from scratch; we also offer additional entrees seasonally. Select from heat-and-eat entrees or ready-to-cook portioned proteins -- both are delicious!
